SC conducts re-orientation for students

The College of Arts and Sciences Student Council (CAS-SC) prepared a special welcome for the college’s students as the academic year first semester started.

Headed by the CAS SC senator, Frances Mora, CAS SC organized a re-orientation for all of the CAS students, held at the SLSU Open Court, August 8, 2017.

The re-orientation aimed to inform the students about the university’s policies which focused on student-related matters. University officials including Prof. Edsel R. Paroan, the Dean of the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) and Dr. Helene Daya, the SLSU Guidance Coordinator, conducted an orientation on student activities and the services of the guidance office, respectively.

Prof. Michael Anthony Nada of the OSAS Student Organization, Mr. Espirindion G. Canino, the Head of Civil Safety and Security Office, and Prof. Mariebeth Seño, the head of MIS also talked during the re-orientation.

Dr. Mari Jane Lee, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, highlighted the importance of understanding the university’s policies in her opening remarks. The chairpersons then introduced the faculty members in their respective department.

The President of MS2, ACOMMS, Haynayanon, and SSP, as well as the Editor-in-chief of the Wisdom also delivered a brief talk about their organizations. They also encouraged the students to actively participate in student activities organized for their respective discipline.

The adviser of CAS-SC, Ms. Maria Gloria Nada, expressed her gratitude to the attendees of the re-orientation in her closing remarks. The re-orientation for the students is only one of the many activities that CAS-SC prepared for the students of the college. // Jewel Pabillar
