CAS adopts #CASLearnAsOne, trains faculty in preparation for new normal

The College of Arts and Sciences faculty's fight against COVID starts with bridging the digital divide in learning delivery to arm themselves with the skills to empower the students. The college adopted #CASLearnAsOne, spearheaded by Dr. Shiela M. Manzanilla, the College Dean, which aims to train faculty members in utilizing various online platforms in delivering lessons to students.

The faculty members opted to get out of the box by retooling themselves and embarking on the online mode of teaching as they prepare for the new normal. With this, trainings were conducted by the different department of the college.

The BA Communication program and the Department of Languages, Literature and Humanities started with a Zoom tutorial on May 8 and 11, 2020.

The faculty of the Mathematics and Natural Sciences explored Zoom, Edmodo, Google Meet, and Google Classroom as possible platforms of delivering lessons to students on May 13 and 14, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Social Sciences department also looked at the features of Zoom, Edmodo and Google Classroom in their training conducted on May 8, 11, and 12, 2020.

The faculty members also regularly meet online to tackle issues and concerns of the present and upcoming semesters. The meeting and trainings are in preparation for the upcoming semester to ensure that the needs of the students will be foremost considered. CAS also wanted to ensure that no student will be left behind in this transition towards the new normal.

Faculty of Languages, Literature, and Humanities department explore Zoom as a platform for alternative learning.

Mathematics and Natural Sciences department faculty train on using Google Meet. Likewise, the department also use Zoom and Edmodo.

AB History and Social Sciences department faculty explore Zoom, Edmodo, and Google Classroom.

AB Psychology program faculty, under the Social Sciences department, conducts training on using Zoom.
