Dean Lee, Dr. Manzanilla attend India-ASEAN InnoTech summit

One of the exclusively-invited higher education units in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), the SLSU-College of Arts and Sciences has been invited to be part of the India-ASEAN Innovation and Technology Summit held in New Delhi in India, November 29-30, 2018.Dr. Mari Jane Anglo-Lee, CAS Dean, and Dr. Shiela Manzanilla, Program Chairperson of BA Communication and MA in Applied Linguistics, were two of only 50 invited delegates from the ASEAN region of the said international gathering whose trip was covered by the organizers, the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India and the ASEAN.

The College of Arts and Sciences was specifically invited, "keeping in consideration your commitment towards innovation and technology, and vision for development through international collaboration," according to Ritika Vaid, Senior Assistant Director of the FICCI, in an email. Dean Lee notes that this invitation says so much about CAS' position in the University and the ASEAN region as an internationally-recognized academic unit within the ASEAN University network for its commitment to innovation and technological advancement through international collaboration.

Dr. Lee and Dr. Manzanilla promoted Southern Luzon State University and the College of Arts and Sciences to the summit delegates, particularly focusing on its role on innovation and technology in the region, and potential contributions to the India-ASEAN innovation and technology thrusts for future partnerships.

Attended by delegates from various sectors such as the academe, technology and innovation experts, industries, policy makers, entrepreneurs, and donor institutions, among others, the summit aimed to "create a unique networking ground for people to explore new collaborations, refresh existing ones and showcase projects, programs and demonstrated success stories to connect with players and stakeholders of the ASEAN community". // CAS Web Development Team
