Psych Prof, Gino Cabrera, is semifinalist in 2019 CSR Youth Awards

Psychology Professor, Gino Cabrera, has been recognized as semifinalist for the Young Professionals category in the 5th Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards for the SMILE for HIs (Skills Mentoring and Innovative Livelihood Education for Hearing Impaired Adolescents and Young Adults) Extension Services Project, an institutionally-funded Extension program he spearheaded since 2015.

Prof. Cabrera has been shortlisted from among 170 nominees from across the country who were chosen on the basis of projects that, according to the organization's program, "provid[e] society with models and inspirational examples... and exemplars of values..." during the awarding ceremony held at Club Filipino, Greenhills, San Juan, September 30, 2019.

SMILE for HIs is an extension program funded by Southern Luzon State University that aims to: (1) impart psycho-socio-educational intervention and its integration among hearing-impaired adolescents (HIs) and their parents for them to manage themselves properly, develop a healthy sense of well-being and establish good family support; (2) teach and develop technical and vocational skills among HIs in specific areas like computer technology, baking or culinary arts and electronics; and (3) enhance the participants’ self-esteem and interpersonal skills and personality in general by providing them a means of living or an avenue for open employment.

The CSR Youth Award is a project of the Benita and Catalino Yap Foundation together with Deloitte Philippines, Group Developers Inc., and Management Association of the Philippines that was established to "recognize outstanding young people who practice or who have initiated projects anchored on CSR 3.0." // CAS Web Development Team
